Revellers and Saldenah Carnival prepare for Kiddie Launches

 Kiddies And Parents Will be Jumping Up At 

Two Coming Costume Launches. 


 Forgot how busy summer is in the city of Toronto?  The weekly Caribbean Camera carnival list begins here.

 

With the Covid Pandemic apparently in retreat, Carnival event planners have quickly booked event halls, outdoor concert venues and even amusement parks for every weekend of the spring and summer all beginning this weekend.

 

Over the next three months the Caribbean Camera will keep readers in the loop and up-to-date. Of special note this week is for the kids.

 

Junior Revellers’ Band Launch Takes Off On Saturday


NBA great Jamaal Magloire’s Revellers’  costume launch for adults brought in near record numbers last month. This weekend will they repeat those monster number with the children’s version of their Bon Voyage  Costume Launch?

 

Every summer, Covid willing, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival stages a Junior Carnival Parade in Toronto’s east end, a few weeks before the Grand Parade. Thousands of costumed youngsters join mas bands and parade, on the streets  just like their big people do. This year the Kiddiea Parade will be held Saturday July 23rd. rain or shine in Neilson Park on Sewells Rd in Scarborough.

 

The Junior Revellers Band Launch takes place this Sunday afternoon at their Mas Camp at 2450 Victoria Park. The free party and kiddies costume fashion show begins at 4 pm. Parents can purchase both adult and junior costumes at the launch.

“This is an annual event that gives children the opportunity to learn about and celebrate Caribbean culture, while involving the community at large. With the support from our sponsors, Toronto Revellers hosts over 500 kids that participate in the band,” report the organizers.

It Is Okay For The Kiddies To Walk On The Streets of Fire


 

The Saldenah Carnival Mas Band also reported huge attendance numbers of its Streets of Fire themed costume launch last month.  Next Sunday, May 29th it will be the youngsters turn to show their stuff, at the Saldenah Mas Camp on Birchmont Rd.


 

What is it all about? Face Painting, Hot Dogs, Kid’s Entertainment, Costume registration and a Mas costume fashion show modelled by the children. Parents can also register children wanting to play Mas with Saldenah Carnival in July.  The party runs from 1pm to 6pm.
