FINAL TOUCHES MADE ON THE MANDELA WALL Signs - Mandela Exhibition In North Toronto By Stephen Weir : Dusting. Straightening.  Turning on the museum lights. The final touches on the exhibition MANDELA are being made in preparation for today's official opening!  The doors will open to the public after lunch for MANDELA, a blockbuster-touring exhibition created by the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg. It is all happening in North Toronto at the Meridian Arts Centre 5040 Yonge St, the show runs till January 5 th  2020. By Stephen Weir Two important exhibitions about the life and times of Nelson Mandela are set to be on display in Toronto this fall.  A free Toronto Star Mandela photo exhibit opens next Wednesday downtown at Brookfield Place and on October 10 th  a full-scale museum exhibition will open in North Toronto at the Meridian Art Centre  (formerly the Toronto Centre for the Arts) Clyde Wagner, the president and CEO of TO Live told the Caribbean Camera yesterday, that given what is happening in the world today, Nelson Mandela’s life story must not be forgotten.  “ The time is right for this photo exhibit!”   Mandela: Through the Eyes Of the City  will be on display for almost a month at  Brookfield Place in the Allen Lambert Galleria, 181 Bay Street.  The free photography show has exclusive images from the Toronto Star’s photography archives. Soweto plays North Toronto Heavy on Revolution – Gospel Takes A Back Seat By Stephen Weir The Soweto Gospel Choir has been around the world more than a few times since their formation back in 2002. The South African singing group is so much in demand that they now have two choirs performing and touring simultaneously this December in the United States and Europe. The city got to see the Soweto Gospel Choir for two nights last Thursday and Friday in North Toronto.   They swooped into town, won the hearts and voices of an almost filled George Weston Theatre (North York), sold a whack of autographed CDs then hit the road to perform the next night in Montreal and the night after that in New Jersey.
