FANTAZIA, SUGACAYNE LAST TWO MAS BANDS TO LAUNCH IN 2023 - TORONTO

Image
Wow and Boo Hoo. It's all over until next year! We already miss them! The last two mas band costume launches for this summer's Toronto Caribbean Carnival took place over the weekend.  Fantazia launched on Saturday at the Eve Event Space on Northwest Drive in Mississauga, while SugaCayne had their launch on Sunday at their headquarters located at 150 Yorkland Blvd in Toronto.  Take our word for it; many sexy outfits were showcased on stage, and a significant number of costumes were sold. Prior to the start of the evening show, Fantazia Carnival, led by Will and Lisa Morton, informed the audience that they were about to witness a world of the  unexpected, where "Odds and Oddities" come to life! As these pictures  demonstrate, the costumes showcased “the curious trinkets of life's grand  bazaar”. Similar to what fans have seen with other mas camps' offerings, the women's costumes were engineering feats, strategically hiding naughty parts with minimal materi

Irie Music Festival Crush It In Mississauga

Festival goers tell me that after the past weekend Mississauga Celebration Square MUST be renamed Irie Place (we will get on that sir) By Stephen Weir Happy. Exhausted. Full up to here with doubles and roti. Thousands and thousands of people spent two days soaking up the Soca and riding the Reggae wave at Mississauga’s TD Irie Music Festival. And for those that couldn’t get enough of headliner Farmer Nappy there was a perfect weather Sunday cruise aboard the Yankee Lady 111 out on Lake Ontario. The music was free.   The parking was free.   About the only thing you had to pay for was the sunscreen, the food and drink. People of all ages, filled the Celebration Square, next door to the Square One supermall in Mississauga.   Phil Vassell’s TD Irie Music Festival has grown into a keystone event for Mississauga’s summer.   How much did people love this weekend’s festival?   The Caribbean Camera received a letter demanding that the public park   “HAS to be

. Marilyn Monroe’s concrete body now finished December 03, 2010 Stephen Weir Special to the Toronto Star Posted on the Star's YourHome.ca site Hazel McCallion believes that the “topping-off” of the 56-storey Absolute condominium is a giant step in making Mississauga a “Global City.” The completion of the new 428-unit curvy cement and glass building is the making of an iconic attraction that will bring more boldly designed high-rises to the city and create a tourist attraction, Mississauga’s mayor says. “This building has already set a new standard for design in Mississauga,” McCallion told a happy crowd of construction workers last week at a top-off party for the recently completed building. The mayor, sharing a stage with the officials of Fernbrook Homes, Cityzen Development Group, Dominus Group and the Beijing based MAD Architects, urged the consortium to build again in her city and as soon as possible. Calling the Absolute tower, also known as the Marilyn Monroe building because

Toronto Star September 18th feature story (Condo Section: http://www.yourhome.ca/homes/realestate/article/861508--mississauga-condos-absolutely-brilliant ) By Stephen Weir Long after the world has forgotten Marilyn Monroe, two well endowed condos will still be twisting the years away in downtown Mississauga. Curvaceous. Shockingly new. Absolute Buildings 4 and 5 are being built to last for the next century and beyond. While their growing shapes are unconventional (Absolute 4 been dubbed the Marilyn Monroe because of its curves while Absolute 5 will sport a masculine big butt profile) it is the traditional application of concrete, and lots of it, that will make these buildings an eye-catching monument in time. The 50 and 56 story condominiums have been under construction for over three years. Now, as the structures begin to tower over the nearby City Ha
