Toronto marks Bob Marley’s 77th Birthday Eight-community leader to receive  Bob Marley Day Humanitarian Awards    Toronto City Council has proclaimed February 6th, Bob Marley Day in Toronto.  This is the 31st time that the city has honoured the late great Jamaican musician.  In previous years there have been public events held to mark the Reggae star’s birthday, this year it will be recorded at A Different Booklist Cultural Centre - The People's Residence and broadcast on YouTube at 3pm.   After the Proclamation issued by Mayor John Tory is read, we will honour this year’s recipients of the Bob Marley Humanitarian Award. Bookstore owner and author Itah Sadu will read from her book, a children’s story about how a new Canadian youngster makes friends with his principal over their mutual love for Bob Marley. We will also have a presentation on the progress o...

Wailers wait it out indoors while their new record soars high in charts around the charts By Stephen Weir The Wailers are enjoying one of their most successful records in decades, but for drummer Aston Barrett Jr, these days he is spending a lot of his time musing about the meaning of life.  While their new song One World, One Prayer climbs up the charts Barrett is holed up in Miami, talking to the media and waiting for the day when the worldwide virus lockdown is finally over. Bob Marley and the Wailers recorded, toured and made history together between 1972 and 1981. Today, the Wailers carry on the mission with band members who are legitimate members, children-of-legends and a host of immensely talented musicians. It was the request of the late Bob Marley that the Wailers keep his music alive after his death.
