New Caribbean Flights from Toronto and Ottawa By Stephen Weir The Toronto airline with the raccoon mascot is bringing its cartoon raccoon to another Caribbean destination. Canadian travellers looking for a winter getaway in the Caribbean will soon have another nonstop option, with Porter Airlines adding Turks and Caicos to its growing Caribbean network and soon Aruba and Montego Bay, Jamiaca. The Caribbean Camera reported the Turks and Caicos announcement in its last edition. Porter will begin flying from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Providenciales on November 6, with service operating up to five times a week. Ottawa travellers will get their own nonstop connection beginning December 17, with flights twice weekly. But Turks and Caicos is only the latest addition to Porter's rapidly expanding Caribbean network. Porter is already flying from Toronto to the Cayman Islands. The airline began its Toronto–Grand Cayman service last December, operating up to three times weekly, and also offers service from Ottawa. And the price can be attractive. Porter is currently advertising Toronto to Grand Cayman one-way fares from C$178, although fares vary depending on the travel date and availability. Porter also flies to Nassau in the Bahamas from several Canadian cities, including Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. The airline is continuing to build its winter network with new Caribbean and warm-weather destinations, including Aruba and Montego Bay. For GTA travellers, Porter's growing Caribbean service provides more direct options for reaching popular sun destinations. The new Turks and Caicos flights will be operated with Porter's Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The 132-seat jets have no middle seats and feature Porter's upgraded economy service, including free high-speed Wi-Fi. With Grand Cayman, the Bahamas and now Turks and Caicos, Porter is steadily increasing its presence in the Caribbean — and the raccoon on its tail is becoming a more familiar sight in Caribbean airports.Can raccoons get sunburn?
