The Toronto Revellers, led by NBA star Jamaal Magloire, are dressed, hyped, and officially on the court warming up for the 2025 Toronto Caribbean Carnival. This past weekend, the Mas Cam[ held their highly anticipated costume launch and are promising a high-energy lead-up to the Grand Parade on August 2nd
“Our launch was a rousing success and Jamaal is very happy with the turnout this year and the response we have received thus far,” said Tronja St. Omer of the Toronto Revellers Cultural Association. She told the Caribbean Camera yesterday, “Everyone had an amazing time, and we look forward to our Mas Camp opening.”
The launch took place Saturday night at Parkview Manor, located at Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue. With a venue capacity of 1,350, the turnout was impressive. As one follower of reporter Stephen Weir wrote: “Boy, de launch did ram out!”
The 2025 theme, Paradise: The Big Reveal — Escape Your Reality, was unveiled through dazzling costumes modelled onstage by eight sections. The Revellers describe the theme as:
“Prepare to be transported to a world where fantasy and the extraordinary become your reality. In this realm, the ordinary fades, and every heartbeat pulses with the rhythm of magic. This isn’t your typical tropical paradise; it’s an artful enigma where the lines between dreams and reality beautifully blur. Imagine electric vines spiralling toward an indigo sky, playful whirls of neon clouds, and crystalline lagoons reflecting surreal constellations.”
The evening began with Magloire backstage, leading the models in prayer. They weren’t needed, though — the vibes were on point. The besuited host then hit the stage alongside co-host Jephina Jlueche to kick off the cavalcade of costumes and music. Section names like Nirvana, Celestia, and Pyronis hinted at the ethereal (and often skimpy) designs that graced the runway.
The night wasn’t just about fashion — it was a full-on soca celebration. Skinny Fabulous, the energetic and vibrant soca star from St. Vincent, lit up the stage, joined by the high-powered Trinidadian band Full Blown.
While the launch show is over (for now), the Magloire’s energy continues. This Saturday, April 19th, from 4–9 PM, the Revellers will open their 2025 Mas Camp at 80 Midwest Road, Unit 6 & 7, Scarborough, ON. Where they will be taking orders for costumes both male and female.
Next up: the Junior Revellers Band Launch on May 19th at 4 PM, taking place at 2202 Eglinton Ave East (Birchmount and Eglinton).
