DR HINDS TO BLOOM INTO POWER IN TORONTO

 Bloom into Power

With the Soca Queen Dr. Alison Hinds

You may want to address Alison Hinds (PICTURED ABOVE) as Dr. Hinds if you are a woman attending Toronto’s May 19th “Bloom into Power" luncheon. Hinds, the famed soca singer from Barbados, received an honorary degree from the University of the West Indies last November and is still embracing the title of Doctor.
The Bloom into Power luncheon is an annual event staged exclusively for Caribbean women (no men allowed through the doors of the St. Clair West ADV Boutique Venue). "This is more than just an event; it's a testament to the indomitable spirit of Caribbean women,” explains the lower luncheon host Kerra Denel. She is also the founder of the Caribbean Women's Network
The Caribbean Women's Network is a leading organization dedicated to empowering, celebrating and knitting together women from the Caribbean diaspora. Through events, workshops, and community initiatives, the network fosters connections, growth, and cultural pride, not just here in Canada but also the United States and the Caribbean.
"The afternoon promises insightful discussions led by prominent Caribbean women and a curated dining experience that embarks on a culinary adventure, “she told the Caribbean Camera.
This is not a conference, and men are not permitted to purchase tickets. It is a gathering where Caribbean Canadian women will be inspired by six well-known speakers, led by Recording Artist and Cultural Ambassador to Barbados, Dr. Hinds. Also taking the speakers’ podium will be Fashion Expert Antonia Fifi, owner of the all-female Club Enhergy; Kayla Williams, CP24 news reporter; Joanne Dominico; and Jasmin Ganie-Hobbs, a Senior Development Banker at the Business Development Bank of Canada.",
Denel’s first such event was staged in the city six years ago. She has since held nine sold-out gatherings so far in Toronto, Port of Spain, and Miami. She would have even more under her belt if she hadn't had to take a Covid break for a few years.

Kerra Denel RIGHT
This is the first Toronto luncheon in 4 years, for her. “Since that last one we have become a full fledge. Charity. We are registered now not just in Toronto but Miami and Port of Spain. “
A percentage of the proceeds will support the Caribbean Women's Network Non-Profit Organization in their efforts to host annual charity events benefiting homeless women and underprivileged girls.
The afternoon promises in-depth discussions led by the good doctor and prominent Caribbean women. The meal is designed by Calypso Hut, Honey Bre Cakery will build a dessert table, and Jojo's Mix along with The Brothers Grimm Vodka have designed a welcome cocktail.
What to wear? What to wear? Kerra Denel suggests that women planning to attend the $85-per-person luncheon, “Bring out your finest Caribbean-inspired ensembles that mirror the radiance and sophistication of our collective legacy.”
