 JAMBANA says FAB 5 not High 5 on August holiday Monday

JAMBANA, the annual One World Festival, has found its perfect home for the free daylong cultural celebration. Gage Park in downtown Brampton will host the event on Holiday Monday, August 7, 2023, from 1 PM to 9 PM. This year's festival promises to be a vibrant showcase of Canada's multicultural communities, featuring internationally acclaimed bands, artists, dancers  and  Jamaica’s Fab 5.

 The annual JAMBANA One World Festival has a rich history, originating from the efforts of Jones & Jones Productions Ltd, founded by the late Denise Jones and Allan Bucka Jones in 1987. The inaugural event, called Reggae On Yah, took place in 1987 at The Great Hall in downtown Toronto. It featured an all-night reggae music extravaganza, highlighting the best of Canadian Reggae. The event concluded with a feast of Blue Mountain Coffee and Ackee and Salt Fish.


Since its inception, JAMBANA™ One World Festival has grown and evolved, reflecting Canada's diverse cultural tapestry. It has become a premier "Fun For The Family" festival, celebrating the sights, sounds, and tastes of the nation's diversity

The day-long festival will feature captivating live music and dance performances from a variety of talented artists and groups. Among the performers are:

·       FAB 5: The Fab 5, a reggae and soca band formed in Jamaica in the late 1960s, will be headlining this summer's event. With a 45-year career, 26 albums, and numerous awards, the Fab 5 has left an indelible mark on the music industry.


·       Dance Caribe Performing Company (DCPC): Founded in 1989, DCPC presents Caribbean dance in its traditional, contemporary, and modern forms. The group has a strong performing history within the Caribbean Canadian community and has participated in multicultural and international festivities across the globe.

Also performing on the Gage Park Stage will be: Joshua Lucas, Rayzalution, Kairo Mclean,Nana McLean, Chelsea Steward, Dale Brown & True Praise Hardcore Band and Steele 

In addition to these outstanding performances, the festival will offer a wide array of activities and attractions. Attendees can immerse themselves in the vibrant Caribbean culture, celebrating Emancipation Day while enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of the region. The event promises a fantastic fusion of music, food, arts, crafts, and more.

JAMBANA One World Festival continues to be a beacon of cultural diversity and community celebration. With its new home in Gage Park, Brampton, the festival invites everyone to join in the festivities and experience the richness of Canada's multicultural heritage.

 Moonzir Butt Wins! Mr. CHIN International Bikini 201l chosen today at the Scotiabank CHIN International Picnic,  the Bandshell, CNE Grounds, Toronto. WINNER: This year’s winner is 22-year old Moonzir Butt.  The Oakville native beat out 14 other contestants in this evening’s outdoor competition. Second prize was awarded to 29-year old John Burdo and third place went to Troy Campbell. The Trinidad Guardian says that it “is a crime so epidemic that Trinidad ranks second in the world only behind Colombia for its rate of abductions”.
