Grace Food Puts Out The Call For Young Chef
Cooking Up A Storm At The 2018 Toronto Junior Carnival

Children raise your spatulas. Get ready for the competition that will determine Canada’s top junior jerk chef! Grace Foods has put out the call for youngsters between the ages of 9 and 15 to don aprons and enter their annual summer cook-off. There is a total of $1,500 in prize money waiting to be won!
“This is a really great experience for kids who have a love of food,” said Prize coordinator Petronilla Marchan. “This is all about learning how to create tasty dishes using nourishing Caribbean ingredients."

The Jamaican food company says that it wants to provide a platform for aspiring young foodies to demonstrate their culinary skills and to promote a passion for healthy eating. “This contest is open to everyone,” continued Ms. Marchan. “You don’t have to be Caribbean to cook with jerk.”
Grace Food has set up a website (http://juniorchef.ca/phone/about.html) where a parent or guardian can get information on how to enter a child in the cooking competition.
The sky is the limit on what the junior chefs dream up with three caveats – the recipe must include coconut water and at least one Grace jerk product. And finally, the dish has to be cooked on an outdoor grill in front of an audience of hungry kids at the coming Junior Carnival Family Day fete.A demonstration tent will be set up at the afternoon Family Day event in Neilson Park, following the morning Kiddies Parade. Organizers of the competition will have established Toronto chefs to help the children out as they cook up their recipes.
Children and a parent or guardian have until June 25 to enter the competition. The Parade, Family Day and Cook-Off takes place July 21st rain or shine, at the Neilson Park ( in Malvern, Scarborough.
Seven junior chefs will be chosen to compete from all of the entries. Prior to the cook-off there will be an orientation session with the finalists, guest celebrities, chefs and the Toronto Public Health Department!
All seven children will received prizes. Top Prize is $700.00, Second Prize is $500.00 and Third Prize is $300.00.
