Toronto’s Two Film Festival Solitudes

Caribbean Tales In The North. TIFF Owns The South . When it comes to the downtown Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the College Street Caribbean Tales Film Festival , (CTFF) it is the Two Solitudes of the movie world. TIFF has the Big Names, the Big Movies and a Big Army of volunteers to make sure that the ticket holders stay off the red carpets and out of the VIP parties.  At CTFF, the actors, actresses, directors and crew are in-your-face minglers and if there was a red carpet they would be dragging movie fans onside to whine with them! Monday Air Show: Look Up In The Skies And Wave Goodbye To Speedy!

Jacques Bothelin (nicknamed “Speedy")  # CIAS2016  "This will be the last chance for Canadians to see our team in the air," Leader and manager of the Breitling Jet Team, Jacques Bothelin (nicknamed “Speedy") told me on Thursday. "Toronto's big air show is our last appearance here in Canada. We will be performing in the US in the fall and they we will be taking the team back to fly in Europe." After 15-years of performing in North America Breitling's 7 , L-39 Albatros jets will be waving good-bye to Canada today over the skies of Toronto at the Canadian International Air Show. The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer aircraft developed in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody. The jet is still in production and there are over 2,000 jets in service around the world! By Stephen Weir Popular Shore Dives in and around Brockville, Ontario   Shore divers head to the Rothesay Rothesay – Wooden Sidewheel Passenger Steamer. Sank in 1889. 300 ft from shore. Augusta Township(west of Brockville) has built change rooms and a park off Highway 2 for divers. The Wee Hawk - work barge sunk in the 50s.   70 ft long, 20 ft down. Near the town of Cardinal west of Brockville on Highway 2. Wreck accessed from shore at the unused Galop Lock two.   Nearby is the Conestoga Wreck and both can be dove on a single tank of air. Conestoga Wreck. 252 ‘ long steamer. Upright, parts of the ship are out of water.
