Theatre Review By Stephen Weir, Caribbean Camera Today's Caribbean Camera - Review by Stephen Weir Toronto’s Factory Lab Theatre has given auidences an extra few days to see a very funny dark play about the police shooting of an unarmed black man.    Bang Bang (guess what it is all about) was to close earlier this week, but, due to overwhelming demand for tickets   five additional performances have been added   - the curtain drops February 24 th . A rookie female black police officer ( Khadijah Roberts-Abdullah) shoots an unarmed black youth, and a white playwright ( Jeff Lillico) uses the incident as inspiration for his new hit play. Problem is, the playwright changes an important fact about the outcome of the shooting –   the victim survived the shooting but the very successful play (which everyone believes) has the victim dying from his gun shot wound.   The black community believe the play and turn against the rookie cop. Meanwhile in England Tweet Dump on Police After Cops Send Out A Controversial Drug Post About This Week’s Notting Hall Carnival Britain’s Notting Hill Carnival is a year older and twice as large as Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival (and maybe much larger this year).   The annual event t has taken place in London since 1966 on the streets of Notting Hill, for two days every August. With an expected two million or so attendees, Notting Hill Carnival is Europe’s biggest street festival.   The   Carnival always takes place on the August Bank Holiday weekend, which this year is on August 27-28. First Annual Walk of Excellence to York University. Three Jane/Finch high schools.

Students party at York University following the parade (middle) Organizer Itah Sadu (Educational Attainment West) presents awards ! On Friday morning 300 grade 12 students, with the help of the Educational Attainment West group and a number of other associations and institutes, end ed their high school "careers" by walking up the road to York University to begin the next stage of their lives. Graduating students from three Jane/Finch Toronto high schools took part in the first annual Walk of Excellence, with parents and community groups watching on! Teens graduating from C. W. Jeffreys, Westview Centennial and Downsview Secondary Schools took part in a gymnasium ceremony at the C.W. Jeffreys school and then paraded 1km up  Sentinel Road to York.
